February will soon be a distant memory for yet another year, but along with a new month comes a slew of new games, free for all Xbox Live Gold members, courtesy of Microsoft. As usual, the four titles on offer this month are split between Xbox One and Xbox 360. The former console gets Layers of Fear and Evolve, while the latter receives Borderlands 2 and Heavy Weapon. Xbox One

Layers of Fear (March 1-31)
Evolve (March 16 – April 15)

Xbox 360

Borderlands 2 (March 1-15)
Heavy Weapon (March 16-31)

Usually, this is where we aim to pick out a single title that can be considered the cream of the crop, so to speak, but every single item on this month’s platter of digital entertainment is equally worthy of your attention. Obviously, Gearbox Software’s shoot ‘n loot RPG Borderlands 2 is likely to swallow up a great deal more time than March’s other games, but if you’re not into that sort of thing, Bloober Team’s psychological horror title Layers of Fear is a great alternative. If you’re looking for some competitive action, Evolve‘s humans-versus-monster multiplayer formula has you covered.

As for last month’s Games With Gold selection, you’ve only got a few more days before LucasArts’ excellent The Force Unleashed and couch co-op shooter Lovers In A Dangerous Spacetime leave February’s rotation, so be sure to download them before it’s too late.

That’s that for another month, then. Be sure to let us know which game you’ll be shooting for first in the comments section down below!
