Through an interview with WayForward’s creative director, Matt Bozon, Nintendo Power has revealed that Mighty Switch Force! will be heading to the Wii U’s download store later this year.

Mighty Switch Force! HD will feature all new visuals similar to the hand-drawn artwork in the studio’s A Boy and His Blob Wiimake, as well as the “bonus incidents” that were recently released as DLC for the 3DS version of the game. The added content may not end there though, with Bozon mentioning;

“We’re having a tough time putting our pencils down, so we may end up adding even more features before we’re done. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what’s possible before launch!”

The Wii U’s GamePad will display the game’s map on its screen much like the bottom screen on a 3DS. However, Mighty Switch Force! HD will also be fully playable on the controller should the television be occupied.

This project is currently slated to be one of the first downloadable games for Wii U, so make sure to keep your eye on this one as we get closer to the console’s launch.
