Tomorrow marks April Fool’s Day, the one day on the calendar year when any and all news on the Internet ought to be treated with an extra air of scrutiny. But Nintendo has bucked tradition by announcing plans to host a Nintendo Direct broadcast tomorrow, April 1, and ensured fans that “this Nintendo Direct is no joke!”

Slated to go live at 3pm PDT/6pm EDT, it’s understood the broadcast will pay particular attention to a selection of updates for both Wii U and 3DS. As ever, The Big N remained coy on exactly what games will be ushered into the limelight tomorrow, though the company did hint that it intends to conclude the presentation with an in-depth analysis on one of the titles launching in Spring 2015 – our bet is on Splatoon, the upcoming and joyous third-person shooter.

March has been a busy month for the Japanese juggernaut, following the joint announcement of its new, nascent NX hardware not to mention the partnership with mobile dev DeNA to bring its beloved roster of IP onto handheld devices. Whether the company will allude to either of these tidbits during tomorrow’s Direct is another question entirely, though it’ll be interesting to see how these pan out over the coming months.

Check back with We Got This Covered tomorrow when we’ll have full coverage of this latest Nintendo Direct and all of the announcements it will no doubt herald.
