Nintendo’s next console has finally been unveiled via a new video released today. Officially called Nintendo Switch, the device will in fact be a hybrid console, enabling players to switch (get it?) between playing games on a TV and via a handheld screen whenever they please.

The hardware reveal, which is admittedly rather swish, shows individuals connecting two controllers to a screen nestled inside a docking station and then carrying it wherever they please.

The official video description reads:

Introducing Nintendo Switch! In addition to providing single and multiplayer thrills at home, the Nintendo Switch system also enables gamers to play the same title wherever, whenever and with whomever they choose. The mobility of a handheld is now added to the power of a home gaming system to enable unprecedented new video game play styles.

Nintendo Switch launches in March 2017 and will have multiple different types of gamepad, by the looks of it. Unsurprisingly, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Splatoon, Skyrim and Mario Kart were just some of the titles showcased on the new platform.

With the cat finally out of the bag, so to speak, you can expect Nintendo to start steadily revealing a stream of new information for the Nintendo Switch over the weeks and months to come.

Stay tuned for more.
