While we’ll have to wait just a bit longer to get a glimpse at the upcoming NX console, Nintendo has unveiled a brand new version of their wildly popular 3DS handheld.
As revealed on via video on Twitter, Nintendo is releasing a galaxy themed version of the New Nintendo 3DS XL. The video, which you can see above, features Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime, who is looking rather excited for fans to get their hands on this new model.
The minute-long clip does not reveal a release date outright, though Reggie is quick to mention that Nintendo has already sent out this new 3DS to retailers, and mentions that it should be available for purchase sometime this week.
As of now, we’re unsure what exactly the galaxy theme is meant to tie into. While some old-school fans might remember Nintendo’s Space World conferences from back in the day, we’re curious to see whether or not something is in store for the Super Mario Galaxy series. Fans have been clamoring for a third entry in the series for quite some time, though we doubt it would appear on the Nintendo 3DS.
