In the nine weeks since then our small team has been hard at work on development, testing and certification for the Foundation Update. Coming off the back of a massive and indeed prolonged marketing campaign – one which Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida later called into questionNo Man’s Sky touched down for PS4 and PC in August and since then, has struggled to maintain a solid player base, and the fact that Hello Games were placed under the spotlight by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) only exacerbated matters.

Amid the furore, an alleged hack resulted in the game’s official Twitter account Tweeting out a bogus message that labelled No Man’s Sky as “a mistake.” Studio head Sean Murray issued a response, and this news of the Foundation update has been the first status report since.
