For all of the enticing PlayStation 4 exclusives brewing in development – think God of War, Detroit: Become Human, Days Gone and even Kojima Productions’ Death StrandingHorizon Zero Dawn is the only game with a concrete release date: February 28th.

And so, with little over a month until launch, developer Guerrilla Games is currently hosting a media event (keep your peepers peeled on the studio’s Instagram feed) as Horizon begins to round the final corner. It’s on the verge of going gold, and we now have official confirmation that the developer has no plans to implement microtransactions of any kind. Neither Sony nor Guerrilla ever alluded to the possibility of in-game purchases in their budding new IP, but in responding to one curious Twitter user, the latter set the record straight once and for all.

Given Horizon Zero Dawn is, by design, a single-player experience, the addition of microtransactions would have been questionable at best and game-breaking at worst. For those not up to speed, Guerrilla’s ambitious new IP – one that’s literally worlds away from the dormant Killzone franchise – takes place in a post-post-apocalyptic world in which humans are no longer perched at the top of the food chain.

With humanity forced back into the caves, the world of Horizon is ruled by giant, robotic dinosaurs of all shapes and sizes, and though the studio has shared precious few details regarding the narrative – save maybe for the recent story trailer – it’s believed these cybernetic creatures will prove instrumental in the journey of Aloy, our flame-haired protagonist.

Hoping to ignite a new first-party franchise at Sony, Horizon Zero Dawn will roar to life on February 28th and March 1st for North America and Europe, respectively. You’ll be able to find those aforementioned gameplay demos down below.
