While they’ve been publishing remakes and remasters for the last few years, it’s been quite some time since developer Cyan Worlds has developed a new title, especially one for the PC space. Best known for their original work on the Myst series (specifically Myst and Riven), Cyan Worlds has been busy tinkering on their newest game, Obduction. After a few years in development, including a round of funding via Kickstarter, it has now officially launched.

Although it’s not a direct sequel to any of the Myst games, Obduction is considered to be a spiritual successor to Myst and Riven. Much like its predecessors, the game plays out from a first-person perspective, as you’re abducted from Earth and are transported to one of several alien worlds. Your goal is to find your way home, by exploring the different alien worlds, and solving environmental puzzles and challenges. Not unlike Myst and Riven, the game also has several endings, with choices made throughout influencing how the game’s ending will pan out.

Obduction is available for purchase as of today, with the game supporting both a traditional desktop mode, and a VR mode as well. For those who want to catch a glimpse of the environments and gameplay, check out the launch trailer above.
