We finally have some official news on Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs. Joystiq spokeexclusively with Frictional Games and thechineseroom on their upcoming title and gave us these tasty bits of information.

Dan Pinchbeck, the head writer for Dear Esther, will be acting as lead designer and writer with Frictional Games taking on the production role. The game will be running on Frictional’s HPL2 engine, and while it will be featuring many of the same core elements from The Dark Descent, Pinchback promises that, “People going in will not know what to expect.”

While there’s no direct connection to The Dark Descent, A Machine For Pigs takes place in the same “universe”, just sixty years later in 1899 London. We’ll be taking on the role of Oswald Mandus, a rich industrial tycoon who has recently awoken from a nightmare-filled coma after a disastrous expedition to Mexico and now must find the truth behind a mysterious machine he encountered on his journeys.

While there is no official release date, internal talks between the studios have them hoping for a launch before Halloween 2012 on PC, Mac and Linux. Check out the full interview at Joystiq.com for more details and some sneak peeks at concept art.
