In news that is sure to please fans, Atlus has announced Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will receive a free DLC character during the game’s launch later this year. After the title’s first week in stores, though, the content will revert back to paid DLC.

Joining the previously announced cast of 18 characters in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will be rookie police detective Tohru Adachi. Originally introduced in Persona 4, Adachi will use the Magatsu-Izanagi as his Persona and has his own unique storyline, which is included with the DLC. Johnny Yong Bosch voiced the character original, although it is unknown at this time whether or not he will reprise his role here.

In other Persona 4 Arena Ultimax news, Atlus has announced that the title will be playable at EVO 2014, which will be held from July 11 to July 13 at the Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. Atlus also revealed that they will be hosting a Persona 4 Arena side tournament that will take place alongside the official tournament on the 11th. The company will be contributing $1000 and other Atlus-themed prizes to the prize pool. Sign-ups are currently being handled through Dustloop and will close one hour prior to the start of the tournament.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will launch for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in Japan on August 28 and in North America later this fall.
