The next entry in the Super Smash Bros. franchise may not include every character from the prior games, but Nintendo has now confirmed that, at the very least, Captain Olimar and his army of colorful Pikmin will be returning to battle the already announced roster of fighters.

Unfortunately, The Big N’s announcement didn’t extend much past the fact that Captain Olimar will be in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. (which has still not been given an official title), but there are a few details that can be gleaned from the official screenshots.

Captain Olimar’s attacks appear to center around tossing Pikmin, which is in keeping with his playstyle in Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii. Additionally, it looks like the game will only feature classic Pikmin colors (Red, Blue, Yellow, White, and Purple), as Pikmin 3‘s Rock and Winged Pikmin are absent from the screenshots.

On the bright side, it looks like we will all finally have the chance to slap Mega Man with a White Pikmin. I guess dreams sometimes really do come true!

The Wii U and 3DS versions of the next Super Smash Bros. are scheduled to launch sometime in 2014. Check out Captain Olimar’s screenshots in the gallery below, and we will keep you updated with all the future character announcements as they roll in.
