PlayStation Plus Update: Free Metal Slug XX, And Discounted Thomas Was Alone DLC

Having already added Battlefield 3, Jet Set Radio, and Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee HD to the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection this month, Sony has set themselves up for an incredibly lackluster pair of updates to wrap up July. If you were hoping for a surprise announcement to beef up the remainder of the month's Plus lineup, brace yourself for a bit of disappointment with today's update.

Having already added Battlefield 3Jet Set Radio, and Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee HD to the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection this month, Sony has set themselves up for an incredibly lackluster pair of updates to wrap up July. If you were hoping for a surprise announcement to beef up the remainder of the month’s Plus lineup, brace yourself for a bit of disappointment with today’s update.

When the PS Store updates tomorrow PlayStation Plus subscribers will find that Metal Slug XX for the PSP (compatible with the PS Vita) has been added to the free Instant Game Collection. Additionally, members will be able to grab a 30% discount on the Benjamin’s Flight DLC for Thomas Was Alone, making the level add-on a mere $1.74.

Looks like it is one of those weeks that is best used to clear out a bit of your backlog.

Sony is also reminding PlayStation Plus members that today is the last day to grab a 20% discount for pre-ordering Stealth Inc: A Clone in the Dark as part of the PLAY 2013 sale — the title launches tomorrow on the PSN. If you have not done so already, you can also pre-order the remaining three titles in the sale (Cloudberry Kingdom, Ibb & Obb, and Duck Tales Remastered) at any time between now and their respective release dates.

Overall, a pretty “meh” week for PlayStation Plus subscribers, but I guess they can’t all be winners. Let us know your thoughts on the update in the comments down below. Personally, I’m not too worked up about the lineup, as I was going to spend the remainder of the week/month replaying The Last of Us… again. It’s just so good!
