Nintendo fans rejoice: as of today you can officially pre-register your interest in the company’s upcoming smartphone app, known as Miitomo. Nintendo’s first foray into the development is due for its launch next month, and anyone who signs up before the release will be notified when the app is available for download.

All you have to do is visit http://www.Miitomo.com to register for a Nintendo account. Those who create their Nintendo Account before the launch of Miitomo will also receive Platinum Points for the new My Nintendo rewards program, which will launch simultaneously with Miitomo.

Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing, said the following for the company’s social app:

Miitomo makes it easy for people to express themselves and interact with their friends in new and fun ways. Preregistering now is the best way to be among the first to get in on the fun when Miitomo launches next month.

Within the app you’ll be able to create a Mii character that can either be designed from scratch, imported from a Nintendo console’s QR code or even translated from a photo taken by the smartphone’s camera.

Once your Mii has come to life in Miitomo, you’ll be able to embark on fun, charming interactions with your friends all over the world. You can even add your Mii to real life photos to make your virtual self a global star!
