Developer Respawn is shaking up its matchmaking system in time for Titanfall 2, enabling players to find and indeed join online games much quicker.
News arrives in tandem with the sequel’s new video series Inside Development, offering fans a peek into the creative process going into Titanfall 2 – one that will seemingly result in a single-player campaign that skews away from convention.
When it comes to the shooter’s multiplayer portion, Producer Drew McCoy touched base on those matchmaking changes, stating that Respawn is “changing a lot of [its] matchmaking systems so you can find better games quicker. We’ve added this awesome new thing called Networks that lets you make groups of friends and play together a lot easier.”
As the first installment in the new series, McCoy then hinted that future videos will shift attention to the core gameplay at the heart of Titanfall 2, and how it iterates on its forebear.
“This isn’t anything other than actual game developers telling you how we’re doing our job. We learned a lot during Titanfall 1; there’s a lot of experience gained there, a lot of lessons learned, and we’ve been rolling a lot of that into Titanfall 2.”
Titanfall 2 has been penciled in for release across consoles and PC on October 28. That’s a mere week after DICE’s WWI title Battlefield 1, and it’ll be fascinating to see whether either of the EA-published shooters have much bearing on one another.
