Rise Of The Tomb Raider Gameplay Clip Shows Off Guerrilla-Style Combat

While it's only a small portion of the extended gameplay clip shown during Microsoft's Gamescom press event earlier today, an all-new trailer for Crystal Dynamics' upcoming sequel Rise of the Tomb Raider has found its way online, showcasing the overhauled skills tree and stealth kills.

Taking to the stage during Microsoft’s Gamescom event earlier today, Crystal Dynamics debuted an all-new gameplay clip for Rise of the Tomb Raider, showcasing an extended look at the upcoming adventure sequel.

Placing a heavy emphasis on player choice, Crystal is said to be pushing to incorporate more gameplay options for budding adventurers to explore, effectively allowing you to play through Lara’s latest adventure from the shadows or, on the other hand, guns blazing.

Whichever way you choose to approach situations within Rise, the studio noted that you can use the surrounding environment to your advantage, with the gameplay clip shown demonstrating a move where a submerged Lara took down an enemy standing next to the water’s edge. Adopting guerrilla tactics, our weathered protagonist soon slinks into the long grass before plotting her next move.

While it may seem slightly out of a character for an archaeologist famed for, you know, raiding tombs, Crystal Dynamics did showcase a non-combat segment from Rise of the Tomb Raider, and it’s understood that the puzzle-solving sections found in the 2013 reboot will be expanded in this year’s follow-up.

Rise of the Tomb Raider will make its debut on Xbox platforms on November 10, 2015, before arriving for PC and PlayStation in early 2016 and holiday 2016, respectively.
