Though its Kickstarter campaign has ended, the game is funded, and a surprising number of stretch goals have been reached, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is still looking to stretch even further than anyone ever imagined it could.

Since the Kickstarter funding period ended on October 4th, the developers have opened up an option to continue funding the game via PayPal in order to keep the potential for more stretch goals alive. According to the resourceful whips at Wayforward, the game has roped in an additional $35,878 via this method, upping the total from $776k to the current and whopping $811,962. Not an enormous boost overall, but the game has achieved yet another bonus chapter thanks to the PayPal shot, so it’s definitely nothing to sneeze at.

It may be a little much to expect, but the remaining stretch goals sound really, really great. $900k will add three playable characters — Shantae’s friends Rottytops, Bolo, and Sky — who you can take through the main story and any bonus chapters, and who will presumably control differently than the half-genie herself on your first run-through. $1 million will nab another bonus chapter, while $1.1 million — wait for it — will bring full voice acting to Sequin Land. Wow! Now that’d be a wondrous achievement.

Paypal is the only way to keep giving at this stage, so definitely check out the Kickstarter for Shantae: Half-Genie Hero for more info on how exactly to go about it. I’m currently playing Shantae: Risky’s Revenge on the 3DS eShop and loving every second, so you can bet I’ll be flipping a few more coins than originally planned towards the newest foray into Shantae’s world.
