Sony Is Putting Out A New PS3 Bundle, Includes The Sly Collection And LEGO Batman 3

PS3 may be over the hill, but if you don't own one then I can't recommend it enough. Recently inside my own brain I held my bi-annual "favorite console ever within my lifetime" competition, and PS3 dethroned GameCube. It has that many good games. As in, it'd be impossible to play all of its worthwhile games before getting bored. I'm serious -- just peruse PSN if you don't believe me. It's a JRPG nirvana, and that's just getting started.

PS3 may be over the hill, but if you don’t own one then I can’t recommend it enough. Recently, inside my own brain, I held my bi-annual “favorite console ever within my lifetime” competition, and PS3 dethroned GameCube. It just has that many good games. It’d be impossible to play all of its worthwhile titles before getting bored, and that’s just retail releases alone. I’m serious — peruse PSN if you don’t believe me. It’s a JRPG nirvana. Or just nirvana in general.

If the above sounds relatively tempting (or you just want to play the classics you missed by sticking with your PS2 since 2000), Sony has a new bundle you may be interested in. For $270, you’ll get a slim PS3 (which I think is just called PS3 now), a hard copy of LEGO Batman 3, and last but not at all least, The Sly Collection, which includes remasters of all three Sly Cooper titles. They’re classic, and they look very nice with modern visuals. You’ll probably like them.

The bundle will be available for purchase on November 11th, which is the same day LEGO Batman 3 releases. There are also other PS3 bundles announced earlier this year, including a LEGO: The Hobbit bundle and an Amazing Spider-Man 2 bundle. Those aren’t as interesting as this most recent one in my opinion, but to each his own.

Of course, if you’re strapped for cash and don’t need LEGO Batman 3, you can grab a used old-school PS3 for less than $150 on Amazon. But at this stage, why not go the stylish route? There could also be a PS3 price-drop sometime next year, so in the end pulling the trigger will be as tough as it is when buying any and all electronics equipment. The moral of the story is, if you do grab a PS3 this holiday, at least there will be some software to go with it.
