Marvel Announces Spider-Man (PS4) Release Date With New Trailer

One of the most surprising announcements from Sony’s E3 2016 press conference was undoubtedly Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man PS4 exclusive. It was not only a bold step highlighting Marvel’s new direction with its web-slinging license, but a rekindling of a long-standing professional partnership between Insomniac and Sony.

Just yesterday, we got a handful of fresh tidbits from Game Informer’s recent article, including some new artwork, some newly announced suit crafting mechanics, and even some never seen before gameplay footage. Now, continuing on with this tremendous momentum is today’s announcement of one piece of super important intel: Spider-Man’s official release date on PS4.

That’s right. We can now tell you that it’ll be launching exclusively on PlayStation 4 on September 7th, 2018 and frankly, that date can’t come soon enough!

From some of the recent trailers that Insomniac Games have released, we know that Spider-Man will be an open-world action-adventure experience. We’ve also had a pretty good peek at the free-flowing combat in action, which looks like it’ll be taking lots of cues from Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham series, with counter-attacks proving essential when battling opponents. Quick time events will also feature in some of the more cinematic moments within the game, which will help to keep you involved as you witness some of the jaw-dropping cutscenes.

As for story details, well, for the most part they remain pretty scarce. That being said, we do know that Peter Parker will apparently be 23-years-old and has been saving people in New York City for almost 10 years now. Basically, we’ll be playing as an experienced web-slinger, who’s been swinging, saving and skirmishing with villains for nearly a decade.

We can’t wait to get our mitts on Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man PS4 exclusive and we have our fingers firmly crossed that it doesn’t succumb to an unlucky delay of any sort. As always, we’ll be keeping you posted as more surfaces, so be sure to stay tuned.
