New Star Trek Media Beams Out Of Gamescom

There's been a lot of talk regarding J.J. Abrams' next Star Trek film, but more needs to be said about Namco Bandai's interactive tie-in. Granted, the licensed game, which seems to pay homage to Mass Effect, actually takes place in-between the director's acclaimed first film and its upcoming sequel. Then again, that fact should draw more attention to the project than anything else, so let's hope that it'll turn out to be a well-made game with a great narrative and memorable set pieces.

Although we won’t be able to tell if the full product is a home run until it beams onto Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in early 2013, Gamescom has given us an interesting-looking set of new screenshots, plus an action-packed trailer to gawk at.

As of right now, Star Trek is scheduled for a Quarter 1 2013 release. So far, it’s looking pretty good.
