All Starhawk Map Packs Will Be Free

Hate the fact that 99 percent of DLC these days are paid through microtransactions that are slowly sucking your wallet dry? I bring relief! Turns out that all the future map packs for Starhawk will remain free for eternity, (or at least until the servers are shut down.)

Hate the fact that 99 percent of DLC these days are paid through microtransactions that are slowly sucking your wallet dry? I bring relief! Turns out that all the future map packs for Starhawk will remain free for eternity, (or at least until the servers are shut down.)

A post over on the PlayStation Blog from the President of LightBox Interactive, Dylan Jobe, explains the reasoning behind the decision:

We really didn’t like how in Warhawk when we released a new map pack, it forced these divisions on our players. And after we released three expansions, our player community was pretty fractured. With Starhawk that ends! We are incredibly excited to announce that all map packs for Starhawk will be free. Yeah, you read that right…FREE. Whenever we release a map pack you won’t have to pay a friggin’ dime! And we’ve already started the early stages of our next map pack for you guys.

The early stages of the first map pack can be seen above.

What say you, gamers? Isn’t this a nice change of pace from the norm?
