Eidos Montreal has finally decided to show us some actual gameplay footage from their upcoming Thief, which is currently set to be released on February 25, 2014 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

A reboot of the classic franchise of the same name, the game centres around master thief Garrett, who enjoys stealing from the rich, but unlike Robin Hood, prefers to hold onto his stolen goods. The game was originally revealed back in March, but this is the first time we have seen any actual gameplay footage from the title. It may be hidden around heavy exposition and cutscenes, but I assure you, the footage is there.

Outside of the odd musical accompaniment, I feel that this trailer does a pretty good job of selling gamers on what they are going to get from Thief. While the footage here certainly reminds me of the earlier entries in the series, I have to say that it also reminds me of last year’s Dishonored. That mostly has to do with the setting, as both games both feature steampunk aesthetics and are set during the time of the plague. While I personally don’t have a problem with that, I can see fans of the Thief series perhaps having some qualms about it.

We will have more information on Thief as it becomes available. For now though, watch the trailer below and let us know what you think in the comments section below.
