Swamp Thing Is The Latest Character To Join Injustice 2’s Roster

As each new character reveal for Injustice 2 comes and goes, my excitement levels rise for NetherRealm's superpowered beat 'em up - which is rather strange, considering I'm not even a particularly avid follower of DC's large back catalog of characters. (Batman's the exception, but then, who isn't a fan of the Dark Knight?). But perhaps that's exactly why I like what I've seen so far. Ed Boon has stated numerous times that Injustice 2 will pay homage to some of DC's more obscure characters, meaning by the time its May release date rolls around, there'll be more than just a couple of faces present that aren't familiar to any but avid fans.

Ed Boon has stated numerous times that Injustice 2 will pay homage to some of DC’s more obscure characters, meaning by the time its May release date rolls around, there’ll be more than just a couple of faces present that aren’t familiar to any but avid fans. It helps to keep the sequel feeling fresh, certainly from what’s been shown so far, and it’s nice to see that – while the big-name heroes are present – screen time is being given to others besides Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash and so on. Cue the reveal of Swamp Thing, who’s the latest character to join the fight in Injustice 2.

As you might suspect, Swamp Thing’s repertoire involves a lot of vegetation manipulation, including being able to grapple opponents out of the air and bring them back to the ground for a pummeling. Able to also make clones of himself and boasting a startlingly varied moveset, Swamp Thing certainly looks like a force to be reckoned with, not least because of the finisher he pulls off on poor Robin, who would most certainly be deceased following such a brutal onslaught. Check the trailer out for yourselves and, in case you missed it, find last week’s reveal of Black Canary below.

Injustice 2 is available May 16 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
