No, The Avengers Won’t Be Assembling For Spider-Man PS4

Insomniac's licensed Spider-Man game won't feature the Avengers or any other hero from the Marvel vaults, according to creative director Bryan Intihar.

Aside from the Avengers Tower, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes won’t be featured in Spider-Man whatsoever.

That’s according to Bryan Intihar, creative director at Insomniac Games, who took to Twitter to reaffirm that, no, the studio’s soon-to-be-released PS4 exclusive won’t feature any member of the Avengers – or any other Marvel hero, for that matter.

This presumably includes Venom and Carnage as well, while those rumors linking Daredevil with a potential cameo appear to be total hogwash. Intihar’s comments (or, rather, comment) don’t necessarily rule out the possibility of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes being introduced via DLC, but at least for now, it seems Peter Parker will be going up against some of Spidey’s greatest ever foes – think the Sinister Six et. al – on his own.

Rumors began swirling back at E3 2018 last month when physical copies of The Daily Bugle (a clever piece of Insomniac’s marketing strategy) referenced the likes Doctor Strange, Daredevil, Iron Man and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Alas, it’s now looking increasingly likely that Insomniac was simply confirming their existence in the Spider-Man PS4 universe, which is all the more exciting when you remember that Marvel Games has hinted at the possible onset of a full-blown franchise to rival the MCU in the not-so-distant future.

And then there’s San Diego Comic-Con 2018, where the studio is expected to bring Spider-Man PS4 along with “many unannounced surprises.” That panel will kick off at precisely 1:00 PM PDT on Thursday, July 19th, and we’ll have all of the details here for you on We Got This Covered the moment they’re live.

Marvel and Insomniac’s Spider-Man title will make a beeline for PS4 on September 7th.
