Microsoft has today lifted the lid on the software featured in October's Xbox Live Games With Gold lineup, which includes Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings and The Escapists.

News hails from Microsoft’s Director of Programming and all-round Xbox spokesperson Larry Hryb (AKA Major Nelson), who confirmed via a blog post that the first wave of newcomers will join the digital library of freebies on Saturday, October 1. The roster is, as always, comprised of titles from both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 games library, and it should be noted that all four games will be playable on Microsoft’s current-gen system thanks to the hardware’s backwards compatibility feature.

Kicking things off on October 1 is Super Mega Baseball, which will remain free to download for Xbox Live Gold members throughout the entirety of October. It’ll be joined by Team17’s The Escapists from October 16, when the cutesy RPG will stay on the Games With Gold lineup through until November 15.

Switching gears to Xbox 360, those holding on to Microsoft’s last-gen system can expect to find MX vs ATV Reflex among the roster from October 1. From there, the off-road racing title will remain free until October 15, opening up the race track for I Am Alive to swoop in the following day. First released in 2012, the dystopian survival game ought to interest those fans of Playdead’s Limbo.

Last but certainly not least, there’s still time to grab last month’s software offerings before Microsoft switches over to October’s Games With Gold lineup. Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China, meanwhile, will hold on to its place on the Xbox One lineup until October 15.
