The developers of both Theatrhythm Final Fantasy games have brought up the possibility of expanding the Theatrhythm template to other Square Enix series, and now they are doing just that, as Theatrhythm Dragon Quest has been announced for a Japanese 3DS release on March 26, 2015.

Details and images on the game aren’t available just yet, though Square Enix’s Japanese site has a teaser page up with one of the series’ more familiar tunes playing in the background. It’s safe to presume that the spinoff rhythm game will pull from the vast library of Dragon Quest titled and characters for its content, but how close its gameplay and presentation will stick to previous Theatrhythm games remains to be seen.

Though I have little experience with Dragon Quest, I’m certainly aware of its pedigree as one of the longest-running and most popular JRPG series available, so it will definitely be interesting to see how Square Enix handles this spinoff.
