Due for release across smartphones and tablets, the mobile spinoff is in development at Square Enix’s Montreal studio, and bears semblance to recent Hitman mobile title in both name and style. As a matter of fact, there’s a striking resemblance to Monumental Valley in the gameplay clip above, which sees Lara tackle a series of puzzles set against a beautiful, pastel colored backdrop.

Navigating caves and slinking through jungle environments will be second nature to long time Tomb Raider fans, and while it’s easy to balk at one of the industry’s biggest franchises releasing another mobile game, there’s reason to be hopeful about Lara Croft Go considering how well the Hitman was received when it launched last year.

Square didn’t specify a release date during the course of its presser, though we expect Lara Croft Go to bring the franchise to iOS and Android devices later this year. As always, we’ll keep you posted as this story develops.
