In typical meta fashion, the footage introduces players to six useful gameplay tips and is, essentially, a beginner’s guide to galactic anarchy. By slotting in between the first and second games in the franchise, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will take place on one of Pandora’s many moons, which paves the way for a host of gravity-defying features.

From low-gravity jumps to harsh space environments, the sequel-cum-prequel will encompass a hoard of new content. Moreover, it’s understood that the next chapter in 2K’s popular RPG series will introduce four quirky personas as playable characters.

First up, everyone’s favourite smart-mouthed companion Claptrap from Borderlands 2 will make an appearance, alongside Wilhelm — Handsome Jack’s very own robotic muscle — Nisha the Lawbringer and finally, Athena the Gladiator. As expected, each character will also have their own specific fighting style, which Jack himself alludes to in the trailer below.

For instance, Wilhelm will have the ability to call upon drones to either guard or kill (delete as appropriate) surrounding aliens. On the other hand, Athena has a Steve Rogers-esque shield to pummel baddies or deflect incoming fire. At this stage, it’s unclear whether Nisha and Claptrap will sport their own unique attributes, but we can expect to learn more about the remaining cast of ragtags in the build up to release.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is poised to low-gravity jump onto PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on October 14th, 2014. In the meantime, you can check out our own impressions of Gearbox’s latest title from E3, 2014.
