The Typhon Invasion Of Talos I Begins In Prey’s Action-Packed Launch Trailer

It'll soon be time for Morgan Yu to awake from their slumber and confront the Typhon threat spreading through the halls of Prey's Talos I setting, and in order to get you ready for the big day, Bethesda and Arkane have released the sci-fi shooter/RPG hybrid's launch trailer. If like me, you've been keeping up to date with all the pre-release trailers put out for Arkane's reboot since its announcement, then you'll likely already be intimately familiar with the grotesque extraterrestrials that have taken to methodically wiping out the space station's inhabitants, but there's also plenty of new details sprinkled on top for good measure.

It’ll soon be time for Morgan Yu to awake from his slumber and confront the Typhon threat spreading through the halls of Prey‘s Talos I station, and in order to get you ready for the big day, Bethesda and Arkane have released the sci-fi shooter/RPG hybrid’s launch trailer. That includes a more in-depth look at the weapons and powers Morgan will have access to and, given Talos I’s nature as being an installation kitted out with the best tech that money can buy, gadgets range from a gun that spews out an instantly hardening viscous liquid to precision lasers that bore holes through the Typhon like a knife through butter. Serving to complement that arsenal will be Neuromods, brain-altering substances that grant Morgan powerful abilities. The majority of these appear to have been engineered from Typhon DNA, especially Mimic Matter, which allows Morgan to take on the form of various inanimate objects, including coffee mugs and turrets. The latter is probably more useful.

Besides that, a few new story hints are dropped, including the very real threat of the Typhon escaping their space-bound constraints and making it to Earth in order to wreak havoc on the human race. Arkane has been keen to emphasize the importance of Morgan’s role in the story since day one, so we’ll finally find out what it is that makes Prey‘s protagonist so integral to stopping mankind’s impending doom come Friday, May 5. If you just can’t wait until then, however, a demo is available to download now on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
