Is Ubisoft Working On A Video Game Tie-In To The Avengers?

Taking into consideration the long-served licensing relationship that the video game industry has shared with Hollywood, it was surprising to note that The Avengers debuted in theatres without any sign of a complementary video game release. Sure, there's a 'freemium' Facebook game, but nothing for our favourite consoles and handhelds. At least, that's how it seemed.

Taking into consideration the long-served licensing relationship that the video game industry has shared with Hollywood, it was surprising to note that The Avengers debuted in theatres without any sign of a complementary video game release. Sure, there’s a ‘freemium’ Facebook game, but nothing for our favourite consoles and handhelds. At least, that’s how it seemed.

New developments show that fans of the iconic superhero group may be in luck. The intrepid folks from Fusible have discovered a domain registered for Avengers: Battle for Earth – a filing that was purchased by Marvel through MarkMonitor. Since that development occurred, the domain has been in Ubisoft‘s possession.

This is interesting news for comic book fans who’ve been hoping for a console or handheld tie-in to Joss Whedon‘s Avengers film. However, it’s important to remember that nothing has been confirmed as of yet. As a result, we have no idea of whether this domain is actually for such a tie-in.
