In seven days, gamers will be able to set sail within the West Indies as pirate Edward Kenway in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. It’s almost hard to believe that we’re now in the home stretch, as it feels like we’ve been talking about this particular instalment for quite a while now. The time for historical piracy is almost upon us, though, and that’s definitely a great thing.

Offering the much-welcomed chance to live the life of a vengeful pirate, the anticipated sequel promises to provide its players with a well-rounded protagonist, who is not only a skillful and stealthy warrior, but also happens to be a great hunter, excellent climber and fearless ship captain. As such, we’re looking forward to what may be the most interesting, immersive and thoroughly entertaining franchise release thus far. All of the trappings are certainly there, and as long as they gel, there’s a great chance that we’ll have something special in our hands.

Earlier today, Ubisoft premiered its grand launch trailer for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Now, what we have for your perusal is an almost nine minute-long video that serves as an all-encompassing preview. Fans of the series will surely find what’s on offer very interesting, as the trailer delves into the instalment’s storyline, main characters, naval combat scenarios, hunting options and underwater content. Yes, this time around you can choose to dive into the fish-filled depths of the game’s Caribbean waters, in order to look for treasure, take a break or perhaps even elude hostile forces.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will bring Edward Kenway’s story to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U on October 29. However, it will also be available on both of the industry’s next-generation consoles, as well as Windows PC in November. Make sure to stay tuned for our review, which will be published next week.
