While we have known for a while now that Ultra Street Fighter IV, the fourth edition of Capcom’s Street Fighter IV series, would be receiving a staggered release throughout the summer, the specific dates had never been clarified. Today, though, we finally know when we’ll be able to own the upcoming fighting game.
Starting June 3rd, PlayStation 3 owners will be able to upgrade their previously purchased copies of either Super Street Fighter IV or Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition to Ultra for only $14.99. Xbox 360 owners will get to join in on the upgrading fun a day later, on June 4th. PC owners will have to wait a little bit longer to experience the title, though, as the digital upgrade won’t be available for purchase until August 8th.
Those that are interested in Ultra Street Fighter IV, but don’t own any of the other previous editions of the title, will have to wait an additional two months to get their hands on the complete edition of the game. Starting August 5th, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners will be able to purchase complete retail versions of the title for $39.99. A complete digital version of the title will also be available on the PS3 and Windows PC, with the former also releasing on the 5th and the latter coming a few days later on August 8th, and at a cheaper cost of only $29.99.
In addition to the release date reveals, Capcom also announced a pre-order program for the title that will grant owners access to five additional alternate costumes, one for each new fighter. They include Pirate Poison, Wizard Rolento, Gladiator Decapre, Medieval Hugo and Jungle Elena, which all sound just delightful.
With five new characters, six new environments and tweaked and rebalanced gameplay, Ultra Street Fighter IV is the definitive (and hopefully final) version of Street Fighter IV.
