This announcement comes as a surprise to practically no one who’s even vaguely interested in the Uncharted series, but now the rumor is true – there’s going to be an Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, and it’s even coming out this year.

But wait, there’s more. Aside from including the three main games in the series with an updated 1080p and 60 frames per second performance, the bundle is also going to come packaged with the added bonus of early access for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End in the form of a multiplayer beta.

That’s a treasure chest’s worth of tantalizing news, but there are a few details to note. Firstly, the remastered collection isn’t being developed by original developer Naughty Dog, but by Bluepoint Games, the studio behind the Xbox 360 port of  Titanfall. Additionally, the PS Vita game, Uncharted: Golden Abyss won’t be included, and neither will the multiplayer components of Uncharted 2 or 3.

Either way, there’s never been a better time to get interested in the series, especially as all three games in the package will feature updated lighting techniques and character models.

But what are your thoughts on the announcement? Have you already secured your pre-order for Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, or are you holding out for next year’s Uncharted 4? Let us know in the comments below.
