Since the PlayStation 4 launched back in November 2013, North American gamers have been wondering: where are all the DualShock 4 variants? Finally, after months of waiting, Sony has confirmed that three new variants of the controller will roll out over the next two months.

Scheduled for release first will be the Wave Blue DualShock 4, which has already been available in Europe and Japan for some time now. Sporting a sleek blue shell, this version of the controller is expected to hit store shelves beginning August 19.

Following on September 9 will be the Glacier White DualShock 4, which will coincide with the release of the Limited Edition Destiny PS4 Bundle. Rather than limit the white controller to those who purchase the bundle, Sony will release it separately for those that already own the console.

Finally, Sony is expected to release the Urban Camouflage DualShock 4 on September 30. Most likely in an attempt to appeal to the hunter in all of us, the Urban Camouflage variant will attempt to blend into environments with its unique camouflage pattern. Like the others, it will cost $59.99 USD.

While it is nice to see that Sony is finally getting around to releasing new versions of the DualShock 4 in North America, I do find it odd that they are holding off on releasing the Magma Red variant for the time being. Unlike the Glacier White and Urban Camouflage variants, Magma Red has already been released in different territories. Unless they are holding it back for an unannounced bundle, it seems like an odd decision to me.
