This one-minute long tease shows off the game’s atmospheric setting of England as a haunting rendition of “London Bridge Is Falling Down” is sung. All the while, viewers are subjected to some rather unsettling looking gameplay.

Compulsion Games’ previous outing was the PlayStation 4 launch title, Contrast, which was not a game that shied away from tackling serious subject matter, and We Happy Few seems to be the same way. Set in 1960s England, players find themselves in the small town of Wellington Wells, which seems nice enough at first. However, in actuality, it’s a town full of drug addicted citizens that pose a disturbing threat.

So far, We Happy Few has looked absolutely stunning, which is why it was no surprise that Microsoft showed it off during their gamescom 2015 press conference. It’s seemingly a score for both sides, as the Big M has secured a promising indie title while easing Compulsion Games of having to aggressively market its game.

If you’re not too frightened by the contents of its trailer, then you’ll be glad to know that We Happy Few is set to release in 2016, with Compulsion Games prioritizing its Xbox One and PC releases. Going further, eager players will get a taste even sooner, as it is set to launch on Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview later this year.
