In a posting on the game’s official Facebook page, developer Little Orbit has announced that the upcoming Young Justice: Legacy will no longer be coming to the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo Wii U. The superhero-based action RPG will still be available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and Nintendo 3DS, though.
The statement on the game’s Facebook page cited “quality issues” and “retailer support” as the main reasoning behind the cancellation of the title. Though they didn’t go into specifics, these issues must have been pretty serious for Little Orbit to cancel, as the game was scheduled to be released in just under a month from now.
Based around Cartoon Network’s Young Justice, the game was set to take place during the two year time gap that separated the two seasons of the show. Players will get to control league members such as Superboy, Robin and Wonder Girl as they do battle with various DC Comic supervillains.
The fact that one of the reasons Legacy was cancelled is lack of retail support is a little troubling. Support for the Wii, I can kind of understand due to the fact that the system is on its last legs, but the fact that retailers had an issue with stocking the Wii U version is not a good sign. This is supposed to be Nintendo’s console for the next few years and if stores continue to decline stocking certain titles, that will not be ideal for the company.
Young Justice: Legacy is scheduled for release on November 19th for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC and Nintendo 3DS.
