It looks as though Final Fantasy fans may be dusting off their Blitzball gear once more as Square Enix has formally confirmed that Final Fantasy X & X-2 HD will indeed make their way to PlayStation 4 in the spring of next year.

News of the re-release first appeared a few days ago, when a leaked retail listing suggested that the JRPG coupling would be ported over to Sony’s current-gen console. And now, Square has confirmed the news, stating that X & X-2 HD will also include an array of “system-exclusive features” along with graphics that have been given that extra sheen of polish.

Priced at $50, the bundle will once again include both installments in the long-running RPG franchise — one that follows Tidus and Yuna’s love story. It’s unclear what Square Enix is alluding to with those system-exclusive features, or if the port will find an audience given that it’s already available on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

Still, we loved our time with the recent re-release, praising Square Enix for bringing a decade-old classic to modern RPG fans with aplomb. Here’s what we concluded in our review:

A true labor of love from Square Enix, Final Fantasy X & X-2 HD Remaster are well worth revisiting thanks to an abundance of extras and an exemplary graphical update.

We’ll keep you posted on the status of Final Fantasy X & X-2 HD for PlayStation 4 as we inch closer to the March release window. For now, you can share your thoughts about the re-release in the comments.
