The first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy will hit the web tonight after its premiere on Jimmy Kimmel Live and fan anticipation is at an all-time high for Marvel’s risky intergalactic adventure. To tide fans over, the studio has released a brief teaser for the trailer, giving us a few great looks at what may be in store for us when the full thing hits later tonight.

The action shown here looks very exciting and the film sports a refreshing balance of practical and CGI effects and sets. The trailer opens with our first look at Djimon Hansou as Korath, an ally to the film’s villain Ronan (Lee Pace). We also see the briefest glimpses of Zoe Saldana as the green skinned Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Chris Pratt as Star-Lord piloting his “muscle car” of a spaceship The Milano, what looks like shots of the prison the Guardians escape from, a bald and blue-skinned Karen Gillan looking incredibly dangerous by drawing two blades, and of course, a blink-or-you’ll-miss-it glimpse of Rocket on the shoulders of Groot.

All in all, there’s a lot here for fans to dissect, giving us plenty to chew on before the full trailer is released tonight. We’ve also taken some screenshots from the teaser that you can look over below. They might provide some more clues as to what director James Gunn has in store for us.

Tell us, what do you think of the teaser trailer? Has it helped boost your excitement for the actual trailer? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned to the site tonight as we’ll have the full Guardians of the Galaxy trailer for you as soon as it releases.
