Leonardo DiCaprio’s 5 Best Performances

Leonardo Dicaprio in The 001 Leonardo DiCaprios 5 Best Performances

Despite having never won an Oscar (which is truly unbelievable), Leonardo DiCaprio is without a doubt one of the most talented and enjoyable to watch actors that has ever graced the silver screen. His magnetism, charisma and versatility has led to a career made up of one iconic performance after another and unlike other actors of his caliber, he’s never once been disappointing. Even in some of his lesser films, like J. Edgar and The Great Gatsby, DiCaprio still gives it his all and elevates the material significantly.

This week, the actor is teaming up again (for the fifth time) with director Martin Scorsese for The Wolf of Wall Street. Based on Jordan Belfort’s memoir of the same name, the film sees DiCaprio taking on the titular role, that of a young stockbroker who quickly rises up the Wall Street food chain and becomes consumed by all the money and power. After living the high life for several years, everything catches up to him and his world starts to spiral out of control. Sex, drugs, debauchery, crime, corruption, it’s all here in this outrageous tale and you will be absolutely shocked by some of the events that take place.

But I digress. Leonardo DiCaprio gives a stunning performance in the film and to celebrate another win for the actor, and to prepare you for his upcoming film, we’ve put together a little video that looks back on 5 of his best performances. You can check it out below, along with a trailer for The Wolf of Wall Street. Then, head down to the comments and let us know if you agree with our picks and tell us what your favorite Leonardo DiCaprio performance is.

I usually like your lists, not necessarily because I always agree with them but because they are quite well explained. This one, however, was just terrible. Your commentary was so superficial and the editing was far below par. Please go on with written lists rather than these short videos. You did not cover enough.

Thanks for the feedback! This is something new that we’ve decided to try out. We’ll definitely take what you said into consideration though.

My favorite Leo performance is in “Marvin’s Room”.

Obviously you don’t need a comprehensive film knowledge to write these things. DiCaprio’s greatest performance, in GILBERT GRAPE, is not even mentioned, and neither is his most brilliant and underrated performance, as tortured poet/junkie/basketball wizard JIm Carroll in Basketball Diaries. The Departed is not one of Scorsese’s best, and his Calvin Candie, while a wonderful turn, doesn’t rank with the above mentioned two. You should have called these Leonardo DiCaprios 5 Best Big Budget Hollywood Performances.
