Adrien Brody Will Be The Villain Of Motor City

According to Variety, Motor City has finally found its villain in Adrien Brody. Director Albert Hughes has had a tough time casting his upcoming film. If you'll recall, he went through several actors before finally landing on Gerard Butler for the role of the protagonist. Dominic Cooper, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jeremy Renner and a couple other big names were all attached to the part at one point.

According to Variety, Motor City has finally found its villain in Adrien Brody.

Director Albert Hughes has had a tough time casting his upcoming film. If you’ll recall, he went through several actors before finally landing on Gerard Butler for the role of the protagonist. Dominic Cooper, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jeremy Renner and a couple other big names were all attached to the part at one point.

In fact, that isn’t the only role that has been causing problems. Gary Oldman and Mickey Rourke were both up for Brody’s part too before they departed. Furthermore, Amber Heard was also on the cast list at one point but she has also exited.

With all these big names leaving, it makes me wonder, why can’t Motor City keep anyone attached? Hughes is a fine director and the plot, which follows “a small-time hood who is framed and sent to prison, only to exact revenge years later to get back the woman he loves,” seems interesting enough, so what’s the issue here?

Hopefully, both Butler and Brody stay on board. Admittedly, watching someone like Renner go head to head with Oldman would have been more exciting, but I still think Butler vs. Brody could be fun.

With production set to begin next month, I can’t see either actor leaving at this stage and it’s likely that Adrien Brody and Gerard Butler will be headlining the film.

Shooting for an April 2013 release, you can expect more news on Motor City in the near future.
