Ridley Scott is hard at work on his highly-anticipated Prometheus sequel, which is titled Alien: Covenant. The director has spoken quite a bit about the film in recent interviews and it seems like the plan is to make sure the story has a more direct connection to Alien.

That’s a sentiment that was echoed even further by Scott in an interview this week, when he told The Wrap that all of our favorite Xenomorphs will make a return in Covenant.

“We’ll have them all. Egg, face-hugger, chest-burster, then the big boy,” said the director.

He then went on to talk a bit more about what he hopes to explain in the movie and what questions it might answer:

“They’re going to go to the planet where the engineers came from and come across the evolving creature that they had made. Why did they make it? Why would they make such a terrifying beast? It felt bio-mechanoid, it felt like a weapon. And so the movie will explain that, and reintroduce the alien back into it.”

So, it’s clear that Scott is attempting to steer clear of the mistakes he made with Prometheus. Where that film lacked focus and was pretty hazy at points in how it tied into the Alien franchise, Covenant will have a more concrete connection and feel like it really belongs in the cinematic universe that the director has created, which is great to hear.

Alien Covenant hits theatres on October 6th, 2017. Tell us, what are you hoping to see from the highly-anticipated sequel? Sound off below and let us know.
