Say what you want about Man of Steel's ending, and its numerous other problems, but it's hard to deny that it did a commendable job of rebooting the character after the utter horror that was Superman Returns. Like Nolan's Batman films, it went for a grittier, darker tone, a tone that will undoubtedly follow through into the upcoming slate of DC Cinematic Universe movies. And really, that was one of Man of Steel's main purposes: to set the tone and begin the world building for the DC Cinematic Universe. In that sense, I think it succeeded. It was far from perfect, and I wouldn't even call it a great reboot, but it was most definitely necessary for Warner Bros. and DC to kickstart what looks to be a very exciting new journey into a massive universe.

Amy Adams Offers An Update On The Status Of The Man Of Steel Sequel

After making her debut in Man of Steel back in 2013, Amy Adams' Lois Lane has become a big part of the DC Films Universe thanks to roles in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the upcoming Justice League. Where she'll show up after that remains to be seen, but it sounds like we can definitely expect to see her at least one more time.

That will be in the long talked about Man of Steel sequel. Warner Bros. confirmed that it was in the works when they announced their DC Films slate, and there have since been various reports about what stage of development it’s in and who might end up at the helm (though we have some ideas of our own about who’s best suited for that job).

Asked to weigh in on the current status of the movie, Adams had this to say:

“I know they’re working on the script, and I know that it’s in the works.”

Beyond that, Adams admits to not being sure about when it’s all going to happen, especially as she found out about it online like the rest of us. The fact that the script is being worked on is good news, but Superman’s fate most likely hinges on the success of Justice League. If it’s a hit, there’s a chance that Zack Snyder will stay on to helm a sequel, and if that’s the case, who knows if he’ll pass the reigns on to someone else or will wait to continue the story he started back in 2013.

We’ll just have to wait and see how it all pans out, but for now, at least we can quite safely say that the Man of Steel sequel is in the early stages of development.
