With production recently wrapped on Deadpool up in Vancouver, new details are still coming out about what to expect from the Tim Miller-directed flick, which opens next spring. Now, thanks to UFC-fighter-cum-actress Gina Carano, who’s playing Angel Dust in the comic-book adaptation, the actor playing metal-skinned mutant Colossus has been revealed as none other than actor and stunt performer Andre Tricoteux.

The actor was spotted on the set last month battling star Ryan Reynolds, wearing the motion-capture suit that we now know will be used to bring Colossus to life. The X-Men character was previously played by Daniel Cudmore in X2: X-Men United, X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past, but given what a limited role the he had in those three films, it’s not expected that fans will have trouble buying a new actor in the part.

Here is Carano’s tweet, followed by Tricoteux’s confirmation:

Deadpool boasts an impressive cast and a hard-R rating, both of which make it one of our most anticipated comic-book movies in the works. Reynolds is taking on the part of the titular Merc with a Mouth (who will look drastically different than the creatively castrated shell of the character we saw in X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Morena Baccarin is playing Vanessa Carlysle/Copycat, T.J. Miller is Weasel, Ed Skrein is Ajax, and newcomer Brianna Hildebrand is tackling the tricky part of Negasonic Teenage Warhead.

Though details on Colossus’ part in the movie are still under wraps, it’s not hard to ascertain that he’s one of the villains facing off against Deadpool. Though the character was a good guy in the other X-Men movies, Deadpool is really playing in its own corner of the franchise’s universe.
