Anna Kendrick Learns A Life Lesson Or Two In Trailer For Another Wedding Comedy, Table 19

Anna Kendrick's screen summer has a matrimonial air about it. First out of the gate is Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, an R-rated affair that's pitched in the same league as Neighbors, and now we've got a look at 2017's Table 19. Its title isn't the most inspiring thing about it - it kinda sounds like a drippy rom-com - yet the trailer sets out to prove that this flick's got a lot going for it.

First of all, Table 19 reunites Kendrick with director Jeffrey Blitz. He hired the actor for her first major breakout role in Rocket Science, so that’s one positive indicator that we’re not headed into stale wedding comedy mode. But wait: there’s more! The script hails from the Duplass brothers and the supporting cast is top notch. And the story itself?

A recently-ditched maid of honor attends a wedding where she’s dumped at the ‘random people’ table. While we’ve only got a brief teaser to go on, its playful mood looks to be honing in on the actors’ comedic strengths to good effect. With a great cast (Lisa Kudrow and Craig Robinson put in the reject corner at a wedding? I want on that table!) led by the always-superb Kendrick, it looks like Table 19 might be worth stopping by on January 20, 2017.

Ex-maid of honor Eloise (Anna Kendrick) – having been relieved of her duties after being unceremoniously dumped by the best man via text – decides to hold her head up high and attend her oldest friend’s wedding anyway. She finds herself seated at the ‘random’ table in the back of the ballroom with a disparate group of strangers, most of whom should have known to just send regrets (but not before sending something nice off the registry). As everyone’s secrets are revealed, Eloise learns a thing or two from the denizens of Table 19. Friendships – and even a little romance – can happen under the most unlikely circumstances.
