Another Round Of Concept Art For The Avengers Spotlights Iron Man Vs. Thor

The journey to Infinity War continues apace, and with only 100 days standing between now and Marvel’s event film, CBM has shared another batch of concept art for The Avengers, Joss Whedon’s modern-day classic that ushered in a new era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And superhero films, in general.

Six years on, and the MCU is practically unrecognizable, with enough costumed crusaders and larger-than-life personalities to sink a S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier. Speaking of which, CBM’s media dump features one or two alternate designs for the agency’s flagship vehicle – a super-sized HQ befitting of a James Bond villain.

Also included in the gallery below are several storyboards for the film’s famous fight in the woods, which brought together three Phase One Avengers in Iron Man, Captain America and the God of Thunder himself, Thor. He’s since shaven his luscious blonde locks – you can thank Ragnarok for that one – though if the leaked set photos for Avengers 4 are any indication, 2019 will signal the return of the long-haired Norse god, presumably via Stark’s Binarily Augmented Retro-Framing.

It’s a device that originally featured in Civil War, and will effectively debunk any and all rumors of time travel being introduced into the MCU. Yes, Avengers 4 may be tasked with rebooting Marvel’s lucrative franchise, thereby leaving a relatively blank slate for Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 and the remainder of Phase 4, but the studio is yet to divulge any specific details about what it has planned for 2020….and beyond.

Following the release of Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther spinoff – look for the first reviews to drop in two weeks’ time – Avengers: Infinity War will catapult the MCU to dizzying new heights on May 4th. Its sequel, on the other hand, has been slated for May 3rd, 2019.
