New Trailer For Ant-Man And The Wasp Name-Drops Goliath

Did you spot the not-so-subtle reference to Dr. Bill Foster (Goliath) during Ant-Man and the Wasp's brilliant new trailer?

While Avengers: Infinity War irrefutably redefined the Marvel team-up movie late last month, the Powers That Be are about to go all-in on their second ensemble pic of 2018: Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Headed up by Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly as the titular, crime-fighting duo, Peyton Reed’s upcoming sequel places our heroes on a collision course with Ghost, the elusive supervillain to be played by the so-hot-right-now Hannah John-Kamen (Tomb Raider, Ready Player One).

She’s not the only big-name addition to the fold, of course, as Ant-Man and the Wasp also features Laurence Fishburne as Dr. Bill Foster, an incredibly intelligent lab assistant and future heir to the mantle of Giant-Man. In saying that, Foster can only grow to 21 feet, based on today’s newly-unveiled trailer, whereas the boastful Scott Lang can be seen towering over San Francisco Bay at 65 feet.

Goliath

Is this a sure-fire sign that Goliath will get in on the action? It’s impossible to know for sure. Besides, this MCU movie belongs to Ant-Man and the Wasp, so perhaps this is a callout to the original comics…and nothing more.

Be that as it may, Fishburne is still excited to dip his toe back into the realm of comic book movies, saying the following:

I was a comic book reader when I was a kid. I was mostly a Marvel guy but I also loved the DC Comics. I also loved the DC universe. I bought comics from both universes and then subsequently bought comics from other labels that grew out of DC and Marvel. Vertigo, and Dark Horse, whatever. I’ve been watching the Marvel movies for a long time and I’ve imagined and dreamt and fantasized that one day I would be lucky enough to be in the Marvel Universe and that day has come.

Promising twice the fun and another breathless monologue from Michael Peña’s Luis, Ant-Man and the Wasp is expected to make a beeline for theaters on July 6th.
