Is That [SPOILERS] Hiding Within Ant-Man And The Wasp’s Post-Credits Scene?

One Reddit user claims to have identified a hidden cameo within Ant-Man and the Wasp's post-credits scene, and it may well involve one of the MCU's biggest villains.

July 6th very much belongs to Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp.

It’s already scooped up a reported $11M from Thursday previews, with analysts predicting a huge opening weekend for the Peyton Reed sequel – if this momentum keeps up, it could well break $85M or $95M by Monday morning. We’ve also caught wind of Stan Lee’s cameo, not to mention the ways in which Ant-Man and the Wasp connects to the so-far untitled Avengers 4.

The latter is unsurprisingly riddled with spoilers, which is something that can also be said about this newly-uncovered intel from Reddit (h/t Screen Rant). Essentially, it revolves around the film’s post-credits sequence, and how it may contain a subtle nod to one of the MCU’s greatest ever villains. Massive spoilers to follow, you’ve been warned!

Still with us? This Reddit post from ‘r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers’ concerns the dying moments of Ant-Man and the Wasp‘s credits stinger, in which Scott Lang comes to the realization that he’s trapped in the Quantum Realm without a paddle. That’s because  Evangeline Lilly’s Wasp, Hank Pym, and Janet Van Dyne all succumbed to the effects of Thanos’ snapture, and if you pay close attention to said scene you may be able to see the Mad Titan himself (or perhaps Dormammu!) hiding in the backdrop.

“During the post credit scene of Ant-Man and The Wasp, when Scott is calling out to be brought back (with no response) the clouds in the quantum realm behind him form into a smiling Thanos face,” reads the Reddit post. “It’s for a split second. In the wide shot of Scott floating, just to the top left of his head, a circle turns into an eye and then it flashes and Thanos’ face is there. It will probably be a lot easier to see in HD.”

The glinting purple eyes lead us to believe that it’s actually Dormammu being projected from the Dark Dimension – remember, it’s affixed to the Quantum Realm by way of Marvel’s Multiverse – which only spells bad news for Scott Lang as he bides his time until Avengers 4.

Ant-Man and the Wasp is screening across the country as of today, so be sure to hang around after the credits roll to catch the scene in question and see if you can spot either of the aforementioned villains in it.
