Could Ant-Man And The Wasp Reveal The Soul Stone?

Where is the Soul Stone? Seriously, Marvel, we need to know. Though everyone expected it to finally show up in Black Panther, it wasn't anywhere to be seen and still, fans are left wondering just where it might be hidden. And with the studio not giving us any clues, the speculation is only continuing to mount.

Chances are it’ll be name-dropped only in Avengers: Infinity War later this year, as a new report compiled by ComicBook.com suggests Marvel will hold fire on its last remaining Infinity Stone until the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp in July, thereby setting the stage quite nicely for the untitled Avengers 4. Yes, the outlet believes that it might be Peyton Reed’s upcoming sequel which finally brings about our first look at it.

Though one particularly intriguing fan theory thinks the Soul Stone could actually show up in Captain Marvel, ComicBook.com puts forth the idea of it appearing in Ant-Man’s next standalone outing instead. For one, it’d give the film – which many aren’t terribly excited about at the moment – some more weight and importance in the MCU, but it actually makes a bit of sense for it to be revealed here.

As you surely know by now, most of the sequel will center around the return of Janet Van Dyne/Wasp (Michelle Pfeiffer), “who has been stuck in the Quantum Realm after she sacrificed herself on a mission.” So, what if the Soul Stone was actually hiding in there the whole time, and the titular heroes stumble upon it at some point in the film?

It’d be surprising, sure, but as ComicBook.com points out, it’d certainly subvert expectations and again, could at least give both Ant-Man and the Wasp some more significance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Chalk this all up as speculation for now though, as we still don’t know a whole lot about Reed’s sequel, but with the pic quickly approaching, not to mention Infinity War dropping in May, we should learn more soon.

Ant-Man and the Wasp scurries into theaters on July 6th, 2018.
