Just before the internet quiets down for Thanksgiving, we’ve got one more hot rumor to report on. This one comes to us from the fine folks at JoBlo, who believe that they’ve discovered who will be the main villain in the upcoming Aquaman film, which is set to star Jason Momoa and will be directed by James Wan.
According to JoBlo’s sources, the villain will be none other than the titular hero’s half-brother, The Ocean Master aka Orm Marius. Furthermore, they tell us that the plot will revolve around a conflict between the two brothers for the throne of Atlantis, which will be the film’s major focus.
Aside from The Ocean Master, Aquaman will apparently also have to deal with undersea queen Mera, who is described as a “force to be reckoned with in the vein of Mad Max Fury Road‘s Furiosa.” No word on casting yet for either character, but apparently Warner Bros. wants a non-white actress for the latter.
MORE NEWS FROM THE WEB
Given that Aquaman still doesn’t even have a completed screenplay just yet, I’d take this rumor with a grain of salt. It’s certainly possible, as both Mera and The Ocean Master are well known characters from the comics, but since it’s still so early on, I’d wait to hear something a bit more concrete before getting all excited.
That being said, if this rumor is true, tell us, are you excited to see the King of the Seven Seas square off against The Ocean Master in Aquaman? Sound off below and let us know.
