New Report Claims To Have Identified Which Characters Won’t Appear In Avengers: Infinity War

On paper, the Avengers: Infinity War ensemble is shaping up to be one for the ages. Nearly every living character in the MCU will be involved somehow, from old-timers in the vein of Captain America and Black Widow to the fresh-faced Doctor Strange, who cast a spell over moviegoers back in 2016 thanks to Scott Derrickson's mystical standalone movie, there's going to be a ton of characters here. First, though, we've got Black Panther to look forward to, which will be with us in just three weeks' time and has the distinction of being the final MCU solo movie to release before Avengers: Infinity War.

Nearly every living character in the MCU will be involved somehow, from old-timers in the vein of Captain America and Black Widow to the fresh-faced Doctor Strange, who cast a spell over moviegoers back in 2016 thanks to Scott Derrickson’s mystical standalone outing. Of course, before we get to all that though, there’s Black Panther to look forward to, which will be with us in just three weeks’ time and has the distinction of being the final MCU solo movie to release before Avengers: Infinity War.

That’s no laughing matter, as Joe and Anthony Russo’s gargantuan blockbuster has been described as a film of “infinite proportions.” And in the interest of raising the stakes, it’ll feature one or two major deaths, leaving fans to theorize about their favorite on-screen heroes and their respective fates.

Without question, that speculation will continue to rage right up until the sequel’s arrival on May 4th, but the folks at Screen Rant have drafted up an alleged roll call that claims to identify those MCU characters who WON’T be appearing in Avengers: Infinity War. Potential spoilers to follow!

They are, in no particular order, Nick Fury, Lady Sif, Agent 13, Captain Marvel, Heimdall, Wasp, Grandmaster, Hank Pym, Korg and Miek, Aunt May, The Defenders, S.H.I.E.L.D., the Inhumans, and the Runaways. Those final four were always a given, though, particularly when you consider that Marvel’s TV roster typically operates on a separate track.

As for the likes of Aunt May and Hank Pym, they would only be reduced to cannon fodder amid the CG spectacle, while Captain Marvel is more likely to appear in Avengers 4. Lady Sif, meanwhile, was ostensibly written out of the MCU prior to Ragnarok, and Heimdall may well be killed off screen once the Sanctuary II catches up to those fleeing Asgardians.

There’s no way to verify Screen Rant’s allegations, of course, as Marvel has been keeping everything under lock and key, but we do know that Avengers: Infinity War is “one of the biggest things in film history” in the eyes of Chris Hemsworth. The actor’s about to reprise his role as Marvel’s God of Thunder for the second year on the trot, and recently had this to say:

This is one of the biggest things in film history and to be a part of it was just incredible. I think what these characters are about to face — with Thanos — there’s been nothing quite like it. There are 76 cast members or something like that. I think what people are going to be excited about is what I was excited about and that’s Thor meeting the Guardians and Iron Man meeting Doctor Strange.”

All will be revealed once Avengers: Infinity War touches down in theaters on May 4th.
