Avengers: Infinity War Fan Proves That Drax Lied About Being Invisible

One of the funniest bits of Avengers: Infinity War occurred right after a moving moment between Peter Quill and Gamora. After sharing a kiss, the pair realize their fellow Guardian Drax is standing behind them while eating a pack of nuts. He explains that he's actually been there for an hour but they didn't see him as he's mastered the art of standing so still that he becomes invisible. This is probably nonsense, though, as Mantis soon comes by and sees him straight away.

Now that Infinity War‘s out on home video, one observant fan has rewatched the movie and found evidence that Drax was lying and hadn’t been standing there for an hour, after all. As you can see in the comparison below, Drax is definitely not in the earlier shot but suddenly appears in the later one. How he sneaked in without the happy couple knowing is a mystery, but he certainly wasn’t there to begin with.

That said, maybe the fact that we can’t see him in the first screenshot is because Drax actually can make himself invisible when he’s standing still? After all, other beings in the Marvel universe can cling to walls through their clothes and wipe out half of the universe with a snap of their fingers, so who’s to say that members of Drax’s species can’t make themselves invisible?

Besides, the Destroyer disappeared in a different way by the end of Infinity War when he was turned to dust by the Mad Titan. It’s likely he’ll be resurrected along with the rest of the fallen heroes in Avengers 4, but actor Dave Bautista has warned fans that he might walk away from the franchise depending on the fallout of James Gunn’s controversial sacking from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3So, maybe Drax will become permanently invisible if things don’t work out?

Time will tell, but you can catch Avengers: Infinity War again as soon as you’d like, as it’s currently available on all major platforms.
